GREAT KIDS - GREAT RESPONSE - GREAT SCHOOL!

Posted 16 September 2013

A couple of weeks ago, Harrison Tew in conjunction with Roscommon Primary School conducted a Lock Down Exercise.  The response from the students and staff was fantastic!

There were three outstanding moments from the Lock Down in particular.  The first being that one very young student was out of the Classrooms when the alarm was activated.  He did the right thing and ran to the closest room/building ... the staff room!  Fortunately after a final sweep of the School to give the "all clear", a little voice popped out from under a table asking Tania (School Operations Manager) if he could come out now ....

Secondly, a massive pat on the back to the two boys who also ran to the closest buildings as they too were outside when the alarm sounded ... and remained in the cloak room, teacher free, until advised otherwise.

Lastly a massive thanks to the teachers in the Library and ICT suite.  After clearing the Library myself and realising no-one was in there, I proceeded to walk through and check the rest of the School.  After the Lock Down was well and truly over, a call was made to the Office to ask if the two teachers and two classes of students who were hiding under desks in the Library were able to come out of  Lock Down!  Very well hidden ... that's a fantastic response and doing the right thing by not coming out until advised.

Thanks so much Roscommon School for your positive attitude towards the Plan.  It was great to meet you all and I look forward to our continued involvement with you.
